Culturally correct
Maya had her first swim meet this morning. We had to get up at 5:15 because her meet started at 6:30 AM and it was about 30 minutes away. It was freakin early for everybody! She was pretty intimidated by all the kids so she wouldn't swim in her first event. Luckily her nerves settled and she swam in the backstroke. She did really well. We were so proud of her.
After the meet, Brian wanted to go get icecream at McDonalds. (It was only 9:30 in the morning at this time!) The kids went to play in the play area. There happened to be several hispanic families there as well. Maya was playing with the kids and she said to them, "HOLA! That is hello in Spanish!" I was totally dying! The kids just stared at her like "OK crazy white girl, let's just play" They probably don't even speak Spanish! It was just like you see on the movies when people insult people of a different culture by talking loud or completely mispronouncing their language. That dang Dora! When we got in the car and started driving home, Maya says, "I think that was Mexico." Clearly, we have a lot to learn about people of different color and culture!

That is hilarious!
Too funny! You gotta love the things that come out of their mouths sometimes.
